10 Simple Ways to Live Out Your Faith Daily
Living out your faith doesn’t have to be intimidating! Just like other relationships in our lives, our relationship with Christ consists of many small daily connections and actions. At Suscipe, our mission is to help you take your spiritual health seriously, and sometimes that means getting back to the basics. These 10 simple practices will help you encounter God in your everyday routine. Start small, and watch how these habits transform your life.
Schedule Prayer & Sacraments
Set a specific time and place for daily prayer - add it to your calendar for a reminder. Plan when you will receive the sacraments, like Mass each week, and Confession each month. This consistency builds a strong foundation for faith.Offer Your Day to God
Start your morning off with the Morning Offering (link to blog with Morning offering), or another prayer that offers your day to God. This small act invites god into everything that you do.Dive into Spiritual Reading
Pick a spiritual book or read the Daily Gospel. Check out our post on the Top 10 Books for Those Getting Started in Their Faith. Keep a book in your bag to read during downtime instead of checking your phone.Wear or Display Faith Reminders
A sacramental like the Brown Scapular or a saint medal is a great reminder & witness of your faith. Update your phone’s lock screen with an image of your favorite saint or bible verse to spark inspiration throughout the day.Practice “The Little Way”
Inspired by St. Thérèse, do small acts of love for someone in your life. Clean out the dishwasher for your mom, read to your toddler, or leave the last cookie for your sister. These small actions and sacrifices draw you closer to Christ.Pray Breath Prayers
When anxiety strikes, try the Jesus Prayer: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” Or memorize a Scripture verse like, “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10) Think it, or whisper it as you breathe in and out.End with the Examen Prayer
Before bed, reflect on your day with the Examen. (link to examine prayer post) This simple prayer method helps you grow in holiness by being attentive to what is going on in your life, and providing the opportunity for small daily changes.Embrace Silence
Find moments in your day to skip music or podcasts. This can be on your commute, or while doing daily chores and activities around the house. In the silence, God speaks.Reflect the Liturgical Season
Decorate your space with seasonal reminders, like a nativity scene for Christmas or an empty tomb image for Easter. A frame with interchangeable prints is an easy way to stay connected with the Liturgical seasons.Find a Devotion
Choose a devotion that speaks to you, like the Rosary or Divine Mercy Chaplet. Novenas can be great devotions, or find a daily prayer like the St. Gertrude prayer for souls in purgatory.
